Now that the Hadley Valley Preserve Exhibit is packed up, I am on to my next project. I will be doing a series of paintings entitled “West Chicago: Meeting/Place.” The paintings celebrate the beauty and history in this west suburban community. Gallery 200 on Main Street in West Chicago will exhibit the collection in August of 2016.

My first painting for the exhibit is entitled “Papel Picado.” With a strong Hispanic community, West Chicago celebrates Mexican Independence Day annually. This year, the celebration was headed up by the Mexican Cultural Center of DuPage. One feature of the celebration was 6500 feet of papel picado lining Main Street. I loved the festive air and color this brought to Main Street. I took a few reference photos and painted this painting back in my studio.
