Here is another portrait I have been working on this week:
This one is done in graphite on Bristol board. Its of my two favorite kids in the world!
This spring I will be leading classes at the Lemont Center for the Arts in portrait drawing. I created this portrait as an example of the skills students can learn and improve upon as a result of the classes. In the adult Portrait Workshop, we discuss the classical proportions of the face and do a draw-along of a generic portrait. Then, we look at the planar qualities of the face and add value to enhance the realism of the face. The youth version splits the concepts into two sessions: Portrait Workshop addresses the classical proportions, while Portrait Workshop Part 2 offers the chance to learn about value and shading in the human face.
