One of my most favorite places is Fabyan Park in Geneva, Illinois. There is a beautiful park which spans both sides of the Fox River. Any time of year, it is a busy place. People ride their bikes, walk, and jog on the bike trails that follow the river. Kids (and their parents!) sled down the big hill, atop which sits the Dutch windmill. And across the river from the windmill is my favorite space – Colonel & Mrs. Fabyan’s Japanese Gardens. They are just beautiful.
This painting is of one of the bridges in the gardens there. I love its shape and how it nestles into the landscape. I like it so much, I’ve painted it twice! This painting is quite a bit older, painted in 2000.
